Rain Delay Procedures

“Where Everyone Swings For The Fence.”

MMBA is a "game time decision" organization when it comes to rain delays.  Felling Field has been able to withstand nearly two inches of water at times and be playable that evening.  It really depends on when, how much, and how long it rained on how the field responds.

MMBA will announce on the local radio stations as time permits in advance of the game time and will notify coaches.  Board members may not be available to answer questions with other coaches players because they may be working the field, notifying the radio station, or evening calling their own teams to cancel or update them on the status of a game.

On evenings when more than one game is scheduled, the Board reserves the right to only call the earliest game with the expectation that the 2nd or 3rd game may still be played.  Our intention is to play games when scheduled.  With 17 teams trying to play a combined 77 game schedule during weeknights only it is important that we not fall behind schedule.

Safety is always a primary concern.  Please know that we will continue to monitor weather even when a game is in progress.

Rain Delay Notification Procedures:

bullet

Listen to a radio station.  (96.1 KICX or 93.9 KZMC - We have pretty good working relationship with both but have alternate contact numbers for
  KICX.)

bullet

Call YOUR coach.  She/he has probably been in contact with the board and will know a current status.

bullet

Come to your scheduled game.  If it is played you won't miss it.  If it is delayed, you will know when to come back.  If has been called, you can leave
and check with YOUR coach about your make-up time.

While we strive to be considerate of the need to know by parents about the status of games, it is impossible that our volunteers can handle answering even 10% of the rain delay calls.

Thanks,

MMBA, Inc.
